Functional morphology and phylogenetic significance of the forewing base structure in Ensifera (Orthoptera)

چکیده

Abstract The forewing base structure of the orthopteran suborder Ensifera, a group insects well known for their sound-producing behavior, was examined by using light microscopy, confocal laser scanning and µCT. We detected significant novel characters, such as functional changes in tpm9 muscle from flexor to extensor that are likely associated with acquisition behavior forewings. Phylogenetic analysis based on characters selected showed character system contains strong phylogenetic signal supporting monophyly Tettigonioidea Grylloidea sister-group relationship between Gryllotalpoidea, but no apomorphies resolve deep phylogeny among superfamilies could be determined this system.

Functional morphology of tegmina-based stridulation in the relict species Cyphoderris monstrosa (Orthoptera: Ensifera: Prophalangopsidae).

Male grigs, bush crickets and crickets produce mating calls by tegminal stridulation: the scraping together of modified forewings functioning as sound generators. Bush crickets (Tettigoniidae) and crickets (Gryllinae) diverged some 240 million years ago, with each lineage developing unique characteristics in wing morphology and the associated mechanics of stridulation. The grigs (Prophalangopsi...

the effect of functional/notional approach on the proficiency level of efl learners and its evaluation through functional test

in fact, this study focused on the following questions: 1. is there any difference between the effect of functional/notional approach and the structural approaches to language teaching on the proficiency test of efl learners? 2. can a rather innovative language test referred to as "functional test" ge devised so so to measure the proficiency test of efl learners, and thus be as much reliable an...
